The Appalachian Trail- (D.23, 20.3 mi)

Day 23 (IceWater Spring Shelter -> Cosby Knob Shelter) (230.1 mi total)

After a much needed break, our bodies and minds felt obligated to squeeze out our biggest day so far.  Charlie's Bunion (beautiful panaromic views) was on our schedule and only a mile into our hike so we packed camp early (5:30 a.m.) and hit the trail on empty stomachs.  We had yet to catch a good sunrise photo opp so we got out our breakfast gear and cameras and waited for hopeful clear sky's.  The rest of the day was spent in a quiet daze as we attempted our most physically demanding day yet.  We found just enough time to take a brief nap at one of the shelters and narrowly avoid another Smokey Mtn rainfall.  We finally made it to Cosby Knob Shelter and quickly hit the hay.
Ha, making the view look good.

Coffee and granola bars, breakfast on the trail.

Jax and Brasky doing what they do best, pondering worldly issues.
And the thunder rolls.....

  1. Sunrise on top of a mountain - pretty great way to start a morning.
