The Appalachian Trail- (D.16, 15.2 mi)

A nice Vista as we realized they are called on the trail.
Day 16 (Sassafras Gap Shelter -> Cable Gap Shelter) (159.2 mi total)

Today we wanted to push out some big miles and get as close to the infamous Fontana Hilton (Shelter at the Fontana Dam that is soooo nice that it is commonly referred to by the locals and hikers as the Hilton).  We knew that the Smokies were also a very close hike from there so we put the petal to the metal and tried our first 15 mile day.  We made it almost the entire day without any rain until the last 2 mile stretch, but still we made it just in time to set up camp and enjoy the downpour from the safety of our 3 walled structure.
Jax leading the way through Sweetwater Rd. with the AT sign in the background.

Cool flowers damp with dew from the evening rains.

Our shelter for the night, reminds me of my room at home ha.

Brasky coming around to modelling for the blog. (Filtering some water for tomorrow's hike)
