The Appalachian Trail- (D.12, 10 mi)

Day 12 (Big Spring Shelter -> Winding Stair Gap (Franklin, NC)) (10 mi., 110.7 mi total)

We broke a 100 miles!  Now it is time to celebrate.  Logically, the celebration was to be held at the Franklin, NC Pizza Hut and followed at the Macon County Library and lastly Ingles Grocery.  Still currently at the library filled to the brim with delicious pizza from Pizza Hut (http://www.pizzahut.com/ (Sponsor)) trying to work on the blog.  We will re-supply for a couple days here and then try and hitch back to the trail head and camp .09 miles to a campsite.  We hope to make some good progress tomorrow!
100 miles, Brasky thought the "little" #1 was exciting enough.
Please let us get a ride!!!!

Banjo playing, past thru-hiker chillin' by the trail.... hmm maybe a ride?
Yep, we did the "any way ya want it" large, twice.
Jax thinking long and hard about the food destruction about to go down.

Jax, Brasky, and I (Abby Normal) on the way to the library.....good, long walk.

    1. Ha, yes we didn't think it would work but Pizza Hut is doing some great things with their emerging dehydrated food products sector these days.

  5. Amy turned me on to your blog. Keep pushing the Nanatahala stretch will get you ready for the Smokies. I am going to keep up with you. When you get close to Hot Springs I want you to look for something we carved in the shelter in 1985. Just to see if it is still there.

  6. The Nantahala should get you ready for the Smokies so just keep plugging on. Good to see your pictures. When you get close to Hot Springs I want you to check Deer Park Shelter for something we added to it 26 years ago.

    Enjoy

  9. Hey Uncle Rick!
Glad to hear from you, sorry we haven't gotten too much time to respond on comments. We will actually be staying at Deer Park Shelter the night before we go into Hot Springs, NC so I will definitely check on it for ya. I somehow don't have your number so I will get it and shoot you a call if we have service and if not we can talk before. Love you guys, and wish you could be here with us, I know you would love it.
