So excited to get back on a bike! |
So, today we enjoyed the little bit left of our break in Knoxville. We finished up all of the laundry, ordered Oscars Pizza, and finally packed up to hit the trail. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay an extra day due to the generosity of ol' D'Snides. At 5 o'clock we found ourselves waiting for Drew to pick us up and set us back on Newfound Gap. We spent the car ride listening to 90's classics and people watching as we sat in traffic through Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We ended up not arriving till late in the evening and that left us with a short 3 mile hike to the IceWater Spring Shelter where we found a full shelter. After setting up camp along the trees, Brasky and I went to hang the bear bags using our headlamps as light. A pair of reflective eyes caught us off guard amongst the trees. So, once again we responded as men and began yelling and clapping only to discover a very approachable doe hiding within the bushes. The night was spent in a chill, hoping and waiting for any sleep to come. Ha, it didn't.
Riley was being a little too quick for any photo opps. |
Business savvy D'Snides was nice enough to give us a ride back to the Gap. We love you Snider! |
Got a decent pic of the sunset, still waiting on the great one. |
