The Appalachian Trail- (D.47, 13.9 mi)

(Atkins, Va Motel --> Knot Maul Shelter)  (556.1 mi total)

It was still supposed to storm today, but it really is hard to just sit and not hike when you have this feeling in the back of your head to stay moving.  So, I took a slow morning and finally got on the road around 1 p.m.  The scenery was beautiful today and that makes the travelling a lot more enjoyable despite the heat and constant annoyance of sweat.  I finally got to Knot Maul (Darth Maul) Shelter and had a lonely night in a storm, but luckily ha I made it and was okay.

One of the numerous times I passed the Holston River....really nice with plenty of pools.  I couldn't fish, but I could strip down and take a little swimming break and let the frigid water cool me off.

My better judgement told me not to go exploring, and for once I listened.  Still took a bunch of photos, I imagine this was quite the structure at one point.  It sat right over the river.

My friends for the day, ......and Abby of course.

White blaze art....its been a while so I just had to.
